France

Everything went well with flights and stuff. I didn’t have any problems in D.C. or Paris. But since my plane was late getting in to D.C. my bags were put on another flight and were still in Paris when I got to Lyon…or at least that’s what I think happened. Thankfully I remembered to put some clothes in my carry on, and my suitcase arrived at Charlotte’s apartment yesterday morning. So far I’ve met a few of Charlotte’s friends and they are all very nice. I even went water skiing with them on the Saone (one of the rivers that runs through Lyon, the other is the Rhone) yesterday! It was an EPIC fail - seriously I fell like 10 times - but it was really fun and I’m so glad I gave it a shot! Plus, the area is ridiculously gorgeous. The river is relatively warm, there are huge trees everywhere, it’s super green, and the bank is dotted with outdoor restaurants and incredible housed that look like they date back to the 18th or 19th century. I also went through Croix-Rousse, one of Lyon’s neighborhoods, with Charlotte and did some window shopping. Overall, it was a very good day. Today I think I’m meeting the people I’m going to Barcelona with - YAY! Anyways, I’m going to go manger quelque chose for breakfast, but more coming soon! Hopefully I’ll be able to upload pictures:)

P.S. French keyboards SUCK. Why are all the letters in different places?? Is this some sick joke??

ON MY NEW IPAD!!!!!!

Her name is Gwendolyn. She’s my baby.

I LOVE HER!!!!!

مرحبا مرحبا = hello!

My course catalog came today! I wanted to jump for joy! My favorite class in the entire thing: Knights of Old and Harry Potter. I also just found out that French majors are required to take 4 semesters of a second foreign language, and I’m thinking mine might be Arabic. It would be pretty cool to learn a language with a completely different alphabet and that is not at all Latin-based or Germanic. Plus, I could get some pretty sick tats in Arabic and actually be able to read them, unlike the majority of the similarly inked population. Just kidding.

By the way, I really enjoy making lists.

Shopping list for France/Spain:

  1. a notebook
  2. panties
  3. something antique, preferably jewelry
  4. any other jewelry that floats my boat, preferably cheap
  5. small presents for friends and family
  6. a Christmas ornament, if at all possible

Reading list for the rest of the summer, mostly to be done on planes and in airports:

  • The Reluctant Fundamentalist, required for a freshman seminar
  • Catch-22
  • the rest of Fahrenheit 451
  • the rest of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Hopefully this will help me in Knights of Old and Harry Potter.
1 week to France

and I’m starting to get pretty nervous.

Shoe Fleurs by Michel Tcherevkoff

I found these while browsing through Refinery29 today. This is some seriously gorgeous artwork. I wish I could actually wear them!
